Round One I was up against this thirty-seven year old woman with her ten-year old daughter against Erik. To start with I tried to mine minerals as fast as I could click everything. Then once I had a good economy I started to build star ports and go for the carriers. During this time I had a nice set of dragoons to protect me. Which really isn’t much, if I had played against Erik this would not have been enough, but either way little things help? Now its time to do a little exploring, and find where my enemy might be at. Sadly I searched through like ninety-seven percent of the map to not find her. She is sadly stuck in the corner with nothing but a horde of marines. I thought I could easily take them with my dragoons I had made, but she had upgraded everything defeating my dragoons with about thirty marines. Any way now I had finished one good set of carriers with all of those flashy interceptors. Now it was time to do some work. I sent my carriers to her side and destroyed all of her stuff except for a few supply depots. I had to send my probes to finish off the base and take the win. Erik has finished his game and beat the little ten-year old girl. Ben somehow has also won his match by the last few lucky clicks. Onto round two.
Round two starts. I am up against Ben, and Erik is playing against some random guy we have never seen before. I start off just as the last time mining faster than the probes are probing. I don’t waste time building a defense because I know Ben is going to try his hardest to rush me. Instead I build all the warp gates I can and start with creating a horde of Zealots. I have one large group made and begin on the second. As the second group finishes up I begin a smaller base down in the right corner of the map to mine more minerals. Now that I have a nice army created I begin in attacking Ben. The map is small so he’s basically seven clicks to the left. I find him and start attacking his base as usual people with big forces of killing people do. Only Ben has made a few air units and sends them to my base. I ignore these for some reason and destroy what seems is his only base. By this point I’m covering at least thirty-five percent of the map. Now half of my original base is gone and I still continue looking for Ben to finish him off. I still have all of my units but my base is slowly disappearing. I now cover about seventy-five percent of the map and Ben just killed all of my original base. I begin to panic a little bit but decide to finish looking for Ben and not defend my small base down in the corner. I search the entire map looking for Ben only to find he had done a simple noob trick. Ben has lifted off one of his Terran buildings into an island you can only reach by flying to. Simple yet very wise for someone who hasn’t played in over a couple years. I realize what he has done only to see the sad “You have failed to achieve victory” pop up on my screen. Ben has beaten me, and gotten a pass through the next round meaning he is automatically at least in third place. Erik has won his match also, but he must play for a slot in the last round.
